Reconstruction of the synagogue 2002-2006

In the autumn 2002, Michal Klíma purchased the dillapidated synagogue and founded the Hartmanice Memorial Association. Almost immediatelly, the rescue of the synagogue started with the goal to restore its original appearance. Thanks to the sponsors, the synagogue was reconstructed in 3 years and then opened to public. At the same time, the exposition was opened introducing the Coexistence of Czechs, Germans and Jews in Šumava. The mission of the Hartmanice Memorial is to support tolerance among people.
